Paint Party Friday

Happy Paint Party Friday! I’ve been taking Sharon’s Faces in Collage online class and this is what I’ve been working on.  The idea is to use magazine photos in a collage, paint over the images turning them into something else, and let that shape the story. I’ve decided to call this piece Intrepid because the young woman seems fearless and determined and on a mysterious adventure. Below is a photo of the collage images I  used. It was great fun to turn the bowl of pears into an eagle hat!

Paint Party Friday

Happy Paint Party Friday, everyone! I’ve missed everyone at the party the last couple of weeks and was determined to have something to show this week. I guess I wouldn’t call this a work in progress, since I don’t plan to finish it.  I ran out of play time before I got much done to the hair or background, but I’m not liking the colors overall so I won’t go back to it. It’s just for practice, in my faces sketchbook. I did like the original sketch and should have planned my colors before just jumping in. It is mixed media, mostly watercolor, gesso and colored pencil.

Happy Halloween?

OK yes, I’m a bit late with that. Life has been speeding past and I realized just how long it has been since I posted anything. I thought I’d show off the little hat I made to wear for Halloween because nobody wants a post with no picture. I knitted it, felted it down sturdy and tiny, and decorated it with peacock feathers, ribbons and rhinestones. The pretty part of the feathers is cut off in this photo so you will have to use your imagination.

I’ve signed up for Sharon’s new Faces in Collage class and also a local landscapes class, so hopefully I will have some new paintings to show soon. Anyone else taking a fun class? I’d love to hear about it!
