Tiny building sketches

A couple of buildings from my recent trip to VA. I like that this little 3.5 x 5 notebook is cute, less intimidating, and easy to carry, but I don’t like the spiral binding. It keeps the pages from scanning clearly. The edge next to it is always blurry. And it gets in my way when I sketch.

The tourist information center in Abingdon, VA. This is the back of the building, because that’s where we parked, and because I thought it was more interesting. 🙂

I live in the Richmond area and have a membership to Lewis Ginter. I took a botanical illustration course there a few years ago. It was fun and I learned a lot about watercolors, but I couldn’t stand the nit-picking details of botanical illustration. Hope you had a great time visiting our fair state.

If I lived in Richmond, I’d be out there all the time. It was beautiful! It was my first trip to VA, visiting my brother in Midlothian. It was a very long 16+ hour drive from Louisiana, though.
